The Center
New Hope Arts has a small working board that works in close concert with larger community based committees. All meetings are open and the public is always welcome.
New Hope Arts, Inc. is partially funded by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, the Borough of New Hope, Scannapieco Family Holdings, BlackRock Investment Managers, Kerr Foundation, Penn Wealth Planning, First National Bank & Trust of Newtown, George E. Michael, Inc., and numerous generous members of the community. Proceeds raised from events fund New Hope Arts, Inc. programs such as Sculpture New Hope, the Building Fund, and the Larsen Studio.
Through the generous donation of Scannapieco Family Holdings. New Hope Arts has a new home. Taking on the responsibility of a building has been a challenging and exciting experience. This past year has been dominated by meetings with architects, designers, community groups, city fathers and a variety of agencies and organizations. The reception from the public has been overwhelmingly positive and the group is now embarking on a serious year of fundraising to create the Center that all envision.
New Visions - New Voices - The New Hope Arts Capital Project
New Hope Arts has made incredible strides in its 8 year history - beginning as a small community based arts organization it has quickly grown into an important regional center for the arts. With strong leadership, innovative programming and diverse community support it has become a leading area arts organization; responsive to the needs of the community, respectful of the area’s strong arts heritage and clearly defining the importance of the contemporary artists in today’s society. Establishing New Hope as the cultural oasis of Bucks County and lauding dynamic, new artists of regional and national importance, it is reclaiming New Hope’s reputation as a top arts destination of the country. It has drawn artists from around the country and gathered praise from numerous national and regional publications.
In order to continue growing and meeting new challenges, New Hope Arts plans:
- To create an exhibition space of the highest professional standards
- To create a semi-independent space for smaller exhibitions, gallery talks and demonstrations
- To create an intimate black box theatre for new and original works
- To create an entrance with appropriate signage that better represents the quality of the art within the building
- To upgrade and modernize the building to meet safety and accessibility needs
The Center is working with the well known Bucks County firm Ralph Curtis Fey, A.I.A. Architects. Fey, President of the Bucks County chapter of the American Institute of Architects, has worked on other notable projects such as the award winning Montgomery Community College and The Tri-County Performing Arts Center. He has pledged his services pro bono to the project.
At the time of the purchase of the complex Scannapieco Family Holdings contributed $600,000 toward the purchase price of $1,800,000.
Once completed, New Hope Arts Center will be a model program for the contemporary arts; setting the highest standard of excellence and re-establishing New Hope’s well deserved place on the American art scene.
