Diane Levell: Women in Photography - Legacy Exhibition 2023
August 12 - September 30, 2023
New Hope Arts 2023 Legacy Exhibition, Diane Levell: Women in Photography - Unique Images of Progress and Process, is an invitational exhibition that showcases the exquisite work of Bucks County native and master international photographer Diane Levell along with work by four other contemporary women photographers: Suzan Gottshall, Michelle Kott, Susan Kott and Denise Marshall
This invitational exhibition showcases the exquisite work of Bucks County native and master photographer Diane Levell. Recognized as a master of technique, Levell has worked and exhibited nationally and internationally for over 40 years. Her presentation on August 12 included a hour-long discussion of her past from first woman MFA graduate in photography from George Washington University, to her embrace of the technical process in the creation of unique images. In 2019 in her major exhibition at the Michener Museum of Art, curator Kathleen V. Jameson, touted Levell the “Intrepid Alchemist,” for her adventurous exploration of the medium and dedication to honing the subtleties of light and form. The selection of work offered here includes landscape series from Bucks County and Brandywine as well as rare images of a now extinct exotic tree farm in the Doylestown area - her most ambitious series most of which is still awaiting display. All the work was produced over the last four year period.
Accompanying the series of over 30 works by the featured artist, four regional women photographers showcase work juxtaposed to Diane's images, all reflecting unique fascination with image and process.
